My Big Fat List of Online Girl Crushes

It’s time to give some love to all the amazing women I have had the pleasure of totally stalking online. These women, all in their own way, give me that jealous feeling in my gut that propels me to be better, funnier, faster, stronger, and my heart just bursts with tingles and loves for them. Plus, if they didn’t exist in my life in some capacity, I’d a) have very few people to gush to and b) would be pretty damn bored online and would have stopped blogging. So, thank them, if you like my blog.

Why I Crush: Not only is Jenny one of my best friends IN REAL LIFE (really!), but she is accomplished, honest, beautiful, and far too sexy for words to describe. When we video chat on Skype, we get all high-pitched, squealy, and talk about how it is that we have been friends for so long, but are still so twitterpated when we talk to each other. Plus, we get positively orgasmic when we eat cupcakes together. It’s totally NSFW.

Why I Crush: More is absolutely better when it comes to Nicole. As in, I can’t ever get enough of her. We overuse CAPS lock like it’s our job and she writes things on her blog that make me go, “OH EM GEE, NICOLE!” but secretly I’m all, “Okay, you are totally making me more comfortable writing about my own shenanigans, so THANK YOU.” She’s ballsy, hilarious, hot, and when I read her blog, I get this feeling in the pit of my stomach that’s a mix of self-doubt, admiration, and OMG, I’m totally in love with you.

Why I Crush: I found Ashley last week and, when I did, it was like angels singing HALLELUJAH. Her blog is brand spanking new, but the girl can WRITE and she’s funny and adventurous and HOLY GOD, I’m totally into her. We’ve already talked about meeting in Costa Rica to dance with questionable men and drink wine by the bottle while discussing life, love, and the pursuit of a life less mediocre. She’s a fierce, free-spirit and, when her and I meet up (probably in some random country), the world will, truly, never be the same again.

Why I Crush: I had been stalking following Lisa for a while before we ever talked. At one point, I emailed her and said she needed to be my new BFF and, truly, it was all downhill (or uphill?) from there. We were “In a Relationship” on Facebook for a while, until I accidentally broke up with her (long story) and I really think, when we hang out, we’ll have to make out. And drink beer. And laugh uncontrollably. She inspires me like very few do and everyday I feel like her boldness helps me to be MORE bold. Plus, if our DMs ever went public, we’d have to go escape to a deserted island. So, there’s that.

Why I Crush: The more I get to know Sydney, the more I come to realize that she is so unpredictably amazing that I can’t help but be fascinated with who she is and what she stands for. Her writing is becoming more personal and I can’t help but eat it up like a little kid with their Halloween candy. Plus, the amount of times we say “I LOVE YOU” in our daily gchat conversations is really quite ridiculous, but in that good way where you’re like, “AW, we totally MEAN IT!” She’s unfiltered, hot, and will probably blow my mind when I meet her in person.

Why I Crush: Okay, admittedly, this is the only person on this list that I actually do, in fact, STALK. Because, she kind of knows I exist, but we never gchat and never say we are BFFs. I just… well… honestly can’t get enough of her writing. It’s so clever and hilarious and honest and when I read her blog posts, I’m thinking, “Ok, she’s in a league of her own and SHE DOESN’T EVEN KNOW IT.” So, hopefully, now, she knows it. I mean, she knows it from me and she could easily be all, “Who the hell is this chick and why should I care?” The answer is, you shouldn’t. But, say thank you, that’s polite.

UPDATE. ADDED SOMEONE. It’s a bit of cheating since Ryan is, in fact, NOT a girl. But he’s one of my girl crushes. It would be a pity not to include him. And, well, he commented on this post and made me feel a little guilty for not having him on here. He feels awesome now, I’m sure.

Why I Crush: Ryan is someone that I know would be extremely fun to hang out with. In a way where we’d probably want to kill each other because we’d be fighting so much and I’d be all, “I’M A FEMINIST!” and he’d be all, “LIKE I CARE!” And, we’d get kind of drunk and yell more and secretly, I’d probably want to make out with him murder him in his sleep.
